Seminario sobre “Signal Processing and Deep Learning applied to Biomedical problems”

Contenido:
In the first part of the lecture, he will present Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), his research group, Erasmus+ and internship possibilities. In the second part, he will talk about recent projects related to heart arrhythmia (atrial fibrillation) detection and characterization. The talk will include motivation for brief arrhythmia episode detection in electrocardiogram signals, challenges, solutions and achieved results. The next part will be devoted to unobtrusive personal health devices and smart bracelet for heart arrhythmia monitoring. The next topic will include introduction to Deep Learning Neural Networks and show their application to atrial fibrillation arrhythmia detection problem. Finally (if time permits), ongoing research on noninvasive monitoring of hyperkalemia detection in hemodialysis patients will be highlighted.

Ponente invitado:
Vaidotas Marozas received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics Engineering from Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Kaunas, Lithuania in 1993, 1995, and 2000 respectively. Since 2001, he has been with the Department of Electronics, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, KTU, where he is currently a professor responsible for MSc programme of Biomedical Engineering. He also became a director of the Biomedical Engineering Institute in 2016. His research interests fall in the area of multimodal biomedical signal processing and embedded systems for noninvasive physiological monitoring: detection of otoacoustic emission, detection and characterization of cardiac arrhythmias in bioelectrical and biooptical signals, application of electroconductive textiles for monitoring of physiological signals, technologies for home-based monitoring of chronic diseases. He has been the principal investigator of several national and commercial projects. During his research, he has co-authored more than 100 publications in international conferences and peer-reviewed journals, published several textbooks on biomedical engineering and a collective monograph „Atrial Fibrillation from an Engineering Perspective“ in 2018.
